ECE R129 i-Size is the current United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) regulation for child restraint systems. It requires side-impact crash testing, a minimum rear-facing period of 15 months, height-based sizing, and installation geometry aligned with ISOFIX vehicle anchorages. The older ECE R44 series is weight-based and does not mandate the same side-impact test protocol.
